Lillian L. McGrath Obituary
Lillian L. McGrath of Downingtown Lillian L. McGrath, 90, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at Brandywine Hall Convalescent Center, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Charles A. McGrath, Sr., with whom she had shared 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2005. Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Monte and May Danti Bridges. After her graduation from McKinley High School, she worked at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. During WWII, she served with the USO entertaining the troops. Starting in the early 1950's, Mrs. McGrath worked for the city of Coatesville and the Caln Township Police Department as a crossing guard. She also worked at Pepperidge Farm for nine years and was the first female life member of the Thorndale Fire Company. She is survived by her children, Charles McGrath, Jr. (Jo Ellen), Lorraine DiSante (James), Jack McGrath (Linda), Maureen Hagamon (Herbert), Mary Crouse, Nicholas McGrath (Angela), Anna Hafer, Julia Sheller (Bruce) and Joseph McGrath. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Patrick McGrath and daughter, Celeste Gibson. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320, where family and friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. On Sunday evening, a visitation will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
