Marguerite N. Rector Obituary
Marguerite N. Rector of Lincoln University Marguerite N. Rector, 85, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Ware Presbyterian Village. Born in Elkdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ella Crowl Nieweg. The Rector children and grandchildren spent summers with the Nieweg cousins at the cottage at the "river". Marguerite was married for 56 years to the late Cecil W. Rector. Fortunately, most of Cecil and Marguerite's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren lived nearby allowing them to develop a close relationship. Marguerite was a doer. She often was the family organizer...whether it was for canning, freezing fruit-cup, jelly making, or an outing. Too, she would suggest an adventure and her children, several sisters, and "the cousins" would join...from hiking the Big Elk to searching for black raspberries, Marguerite came from a long line of quilters. She was involved in many quilting bees with her sisters and cousins. Wedding quilts, baby quilts, and graduation quilts...each of her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren has several. For 36 years Marguerite owned and operated an upholstery business. Many of her friends and family benefitted from her talent. For 18 of those years she drove a school bus for the Avon Grove School District. Marguerite was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, where she was the superintendent and chairman of the Mission Committee. She was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Octorara Chapter #463 Order of Eastern Star, and Oxford and the Avon Grove Senior Center. She is survived by three sons, Clint M. Rector and his wife, Wendy, Tim C. Rector and his wife, Joan, all of Lincoln University, Dana N. Rector and his wife, Danielle, of Peach Tree City, Ga.; two daughters, Sandi Bunker and her husband, Darryl, and Betsy Beehler and her husband, Kevin, all of Lincoln University; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma Wilson of Kemblesville, and Ella Luff of Chesapeake City, Md. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mardeen E. Rector. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care provided by the staffs of Ware Presbyterian Village and Willow Tree Hospice. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine Street, Oxford. An Eastern Star service will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the First Baptist Church, 552 Market Street, Oxford. Interment will be in New London Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 552 Market Street, Oxford, PA, 19363.
