Mark Morgan "Pud" Rowan Obituary
Mark Morgan 'Pud' Rowan of West Chester Mark Morgan "Pud" Rowan, of West Chester and Palm Beach, Fla., peacefully died on Friday, July 19, 2013, surrounded by his family, nieces, nephews and friends. As he wished, he passed at home in Marshalton, following a spirited, determined and dignified fight with cancer. Mark was 61 and lived a full and adventurous life, the last 15 years dividing his time between his home in Palm Beach, Fla. and West Chester with his life- long friends and family. Born in Bryn Mawr on July 24, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph Ignatius Rowan, Jr. and Anne Patricia Morgan Rowan. Mark was a graduate of St. Agnes School of West Chester and Salesianum School of Wilmington, Del. He also attended West Chester University and the University of Pennsylvania. Mark, a retired Chester County developer and realtor, was President, CEO of Rowan Management, President and Founder of Rowan Realtors, and President and Founder of Mark M. Rowan Fuels. A creative, energetic, self-motivated entrepreneur, Mark was particularly driven to identify creative opportunities that benefitted the community, the environment and his employees. Mark's greatest professional joy was to create a productive organization of loyal, dedicated employees who, also, were his best and dearest friends. He was very proud of the lifelong friendships made during his working career with his fellow developers, real estate agents, contractors, builders, engineers, judges, lawyer friends, and beloved bartenders. Mark's most enjoyable time was spent with family and friends at the Jersey shore. He loved skiing, was an avid boater, a pilot, an enthused and talented pianist, an adventurous traveler, and a collector of Irish antique furniture. His dogs, Monty and Monet, brought daily joy and happiness. "Wherever Pud was, adventure, laughter, chaos and fun were guaranteed." Billy Guthrie. Mark is survived by his brothers, Joseph I. Rowan III "Jay" and Michael Patrick Rowan (Eileen); sisters, Mary Christine Rowan Schlicher (Dale) and Anne Lucia Rowan Penrose "Chia" (Rob) of Auburn, Calif.; and his dear friend, Mary Beth Shriner of Marshalton. Mark was blessed with 11 nieces and nephews, whom he adored. "Mark was the classic, crazy, lovable Uncle!!!" Tesa Rowan. A Member of St. Agnes Church and St. Edwards Church in Palm Beach, Fla., Mark was a generous, anonymous benefactor to his churches and schools, local hospitals and the YMCA. Mark truly believed that with success comes responsibility. Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration of his Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Mark Morgan Rowan Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund at St. Agnes School, 233 W.
