Mary J. Burkey Obituary
Mary J. Burkey, formerly of Lancaster Mary J. (Yannetti) Burkey, 96, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Anne's Retirement Home, Columbia, where she had resided the past 5 years. Born in Brandamore, Pa., she was the wife of the late Richard W. Burkey, and the daughter of the late Marino and Carlotta (Fiore) Yannetti. Together with her husband, they owned and operated a farm in Honey Brook for many years before moving to Lancaster. Mary was a housewife and loved clothing, jewelry, watching QVC and HSN and taking care of her home. She and Richard also enjoyed traveling internationally, having taken trips to Italy and Egypt. She is survived by a brother, Frank Yannetti (Jean); a brother-in-law, Wilmer Burkey, Jr.; nephews, Joseph Przychodzien (Ann), Ronald Przychodzien (Marguerite), John Yannetti, Kenneth Myers, and Glenn Burkey; nieces, Barbara Forese (George), Shirley Armentrout (Kenneth), Marie Rissell (Michael); Lorrie Good and Brenda Stephan; 16 great-nieces and nephews; 27 great-great nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister, Agnes Przychodzien and brothers, Joseph, John, Giaspeppe, and Antoni Yannetti, and a niece, Dolores Maxey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, Pa., with Father Daniel C. Mitzel as Celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
