Mary Linden Hickman Milliron Obituary
Mary Linden Hickman Milliron of Laceyville, Pa. Mary Linden Hickman Milliron, 96, of Laceyville, passed away peacefully at her home on Rock Hill, Windham Twp., Wyoming Co., Saturday evening, March 15, 2014. Mary was born in Birmingham, (Chester County) on July 2, 1917 the daughter of the late George R. and Marrinett S. Long Hickman, Sr. She was a graduate of West Chester High School and then went on to study from the Philadelphia School of Music. On March 21, 1936, she married Ralph R. Milliron, Sr. who passed away on Jan. 14, 1988. For the 51 years that she and Ralph were married, Mary worked as a dairy farmer and a homemaker on Rock Hill. Before Ralph and Mary's family moved to the Laceyville area she held many other jobs in Chester County. Mary was involved in many organizations and had several pastimes that were special to her. She attended Golden Hill Community Church where she played piano and was a member of the Secret Sisters. She practiced Quaker, Christian Science and Presbyterian. Mary was a member of The Oldest House, Rosie the Rivetter in Chester County during the WWII war effort, highly involved in the Democratic Committee in Chester and Wyoming Counties, Pro-Ag Organization, Wyoming County Holstein Association, Chester County Fresh Air Program (which helped inner city children), Daughter of the American Revolution (she was a distant relative of William Penn). She helped with the probation office in Chester County and was a host for the Agricultural Farmer Exchange Program. Mary also held offices in the local and state Granges (Marshalton and Lovelton, Pa.) and was at a time, the president of the Laceyville Women's Club. She also loved teaching piano and being a 4-H Leader. Mary presented the flag to the town of Laceyville that flew during bi-centennial that now is on display at The Oldest House. Mary is survived by her children, Ralph R. (Gloria) Milliron, Jr. of Laceyville, Alice Milliron Brinton of Tunkhannock, Pa. and James Milliron (Kelly Davis Pascoe) of Laceyville; her 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, George R. Hickman, Jr. (Toni) of Paoli, and her sister Elizabeth Crossan of Chesapeake City, Md., long time family friends Richard and Linda Green of Stevensville, Pa. and family friend, David Ross of Laceyville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Thomas Milliron, three infant great-grandchildren, Kyle Brinton, Payton Z. Milliron and Liam Brinton, her brother William "Bill" Hickman, and her sister Jane Hayes. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20th, at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623. Burial will be held on Friday, March 21st, at the Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, Birmingham Township, at 12 noon. Online condolences may be made at www.sheldonfuneralhomes.com.
