Norman W. Miller Jr. Obituary
Norman W. Miller Jr., 94, of Parkesburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the Pocopson Home.
Born in Atglen, he was the son of the late Norman W. Miller Sr. and Elsie J. Boots Miller.
Norman was a lifelong resident of Parkesburg.
He received his education at the old Lenover School.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was employed by the Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville, retiring after more than 30 years of service as a Dinkey train engineer.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion AME Church of Atglen, the Red Rose Driving Horse Club for 15 years and the Cochran Fox Hunting Club for 35 years.
He enjoyed horseback riding, fox hunting and carriage rides.
He is survived by his son, Roger Miller and wife, Phyllis, of Parkesburg; daughters, Beverly Powell of Parkesburg and Brenda Miller LeVay of Eagleville; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert E. and Ralph S. Miller; two grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, with a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill Road, Atglen, PA 19310.
