Paul A. Getman Sr. of Coatesville Paul A. Getman, Sr., affectionately known to all as "Fritz," passed away peacefully on March 20, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born June 9, 1930 in Shamokin, Pa. to Alexander and Magdalene Getman (deceased). He moved to Southington, Conn. his senior year of high school, where he met his future wife, Ann. They married in 1951 and settled in Meriden, Conn., where they raised three children. Paul served in the U.S. Army's 25th Division 8th Field Artillery Battalion and saw active combat during the Korean War. He worked for Connecticut Light & Power until his retirement in 1992. He and Ann moved to Coatesville in 2006. Fritz was a loving and kind husband, father, and friend to all, and he will be greatly missed. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Ann (ne Abata); his son, Paul, Jr. of Exton; his daughter, Pamela and son-in-law, John O'Keefe of Coatesville; daughter, Karen of Alamo, Calif.; and his grandchildren, Alek, Dustin, and Daniel Getman and Katharine and Max Nied. He also is survived by his sister, Constance D'Angelo (Mickey); brother, Jerome Getman (Tina); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alexander (Anastasia) and Jack (Patricia) Getman, and sister, Magdalene Root (Charles). A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 25th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 335 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Building Fund at the above address. Arrangements are being handled by the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown.
