Obituary Condolences

Philip J. Murray, 74, died peacefully on Nov. 9, 2012, at his home in West Chester, after a battle with cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Karylann (Watson) Murray and was predeceased by his former wife Anne (Murphy) Murray and his son Kevin. He was the second of nine children of the late John F. and Julia (MacEntee) Murray.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons P. Michael Murray of Los Angeles, Calif., and Stephen J. Murray of New York, N.Y.; his daughters Karin (Morrison) Kilroy of West Chester, and Megan (Morrison) Nieberle of Berwyn; and his sons-in-law Bill Kilroy and Gary Nieberle. He was cherished "Poppie" to six grandchildren, Emma, Ethan and Will Kilroy, and Ryann, Jamie, and Finnegan Nieberle.
Phil grew up in Germantown, Pa., and Brigantine, N.J. He graduated from St. John's in Manayunk, received his undergraduate degree while attending St. Charles Seminary and continued his education at West Chester University, where he earned his masters degree. He enjoyed 30 years working as a guidance counselor in the Radnor School District; 18 in the high school and 12 in the middle school.
He was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester, where he served as a deacon and on various committees.
He enjoyed 31 years of support and friendship as part of the Malvern Men's Group of Alcoholics Anonymous. He loved cooking, reading, woodworking, fishing and spending time at the beach in Sea Isle City, N.J. with his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 10 a.m. Wednesday followed by services at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, Westown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Chester Food Cupboard, 545 E. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380.
