Obituary Condolences

Raymond F. Stopper, Jr. Raymond F. Stopper, Jr., 78, passed away on September 12, 2012 at Neighborhood Hospice. Born in Philadelphia in 1934, Ray was the son of Eleanor (nee Meder) and Raymond F. Stopper. Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, to whom he was married for 49 years and by his two daughters, Sharan Lynda Stopper and Susan Mary Stopper (Mark Petroski). He is also survived by two pets, Guinness Junior (black Lab) and Ladybug (Jack Russell). Ray was a career educator. He was a graduate of West Catholic Boys High School in Philadelphia, Villanova University (B.A. and M.A. in English) and attended Syracuse University in a doctoral program from 1967 until 1970. He taught high school English and ended his career as a K-12 English supervisor. He loved to write, to teach writing and to teach teachers how to teach writing. His ideas on the teaching of English may be found in his book, "Teaching English, How to..." (Xlibris, 2004), in several published professional articles and in his blogs, which he published five days a week for a number of years: "English Updates," (http://englishupdates-rays.blogspot.com), "English Archives Research," "Teaching English How To," "Books You Never Read," "Q&A on Writing," and "Short Story Reviews."
