Robert L. Laird, 57, beloved husband of Martha E. Detwiler Laird, of Kimberton, died Saturday evening, April 30, 2011, at the Neighborhood Hospice Center, West Chester, after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Born in West Chester, he was a son of and Anna (Misetic) Laird and the late Walter E. Laird.
Mr. Laird was a graduate of the Northern Chester County Technical School and the McPherson College.
He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for more than 23 years, and most recently was the senior highway maintenance manager for PennDOT Chester County.
He was also actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and was assistant scoutmaster with Troop 85 in Phoenixville. He and his son, Jared, were inducted into the Order of the Arrow and completed their Brotherhood in 2010.
In addition to his wife of 17 years and mother, Mr. Laird is survived by one son, Jared Laird; and one stepbrother, Jeremy Laird.
Mr. Laird was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Laird.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 148 Church St., Phoenixville, PA 19460, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael W. Rzonca.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be held privately in the Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Sacred Heart Church at the above address.
