Robert L. 'Bob' Sickler of West Chester Robert L. "Bob" Sickler, 87, of West Chester, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of the late Doris Tucker Sickler, who died in 1992. Robert was the second baby born in the then "new wing" of the Chester County Hospital, West Chester. He was the son of the late Harry F. and Ethel Borrell Sickler. He was a West Chester High School graduate. Robert and his father were employed as carpenters for many years. They built many houses in and around the West Chester area. Robert then worked 29 years for the West Chester Post Office. He was a member of the High Point Baptist Chapel, Geigertown. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 69th Infantry Division under the command of General Omar Bradley and participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the Bridge at Ramagen, Torgau. For 35 years he was the leader of the Chester County 4-H Beef Club. He was a member of the 4-H Expansion and Review committee. Robert also served as an official on the Chester County 4-H Pennsylvania Farm Show Committee. Robert and his wife received The J. Ira Coble Memorial Award for Outstanding PA 4-H Beef Club Leaders. Robert is survived by a son, Robert L. Sickler II and his wife, Kim of Slate Run; a daughter, Barbara Fuller and her husband, Robert of Downingtown; six grandchildren, Robert LeRoy Sickler III, Jeremiah Lee Sickler and his wife, Tara, Genesee Marie Roseman and her husband, Michael, Seneca Aubrey Sickler, Amanda Jeanne Fuller, and Brady Alan Fuller; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Michael Roseman and Juliana Marie Roseman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his two older brothers, Henry and Charles Sickler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., 229 South High Street, West Chester, (610) 696-0134. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery.
