Samuel M. Brown Obituary
Samuel M. Brown of Downingtown Samuel M. (Basica) Brown, 90, of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Regina Whalen Brown, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret M. Hunter Brown. He was a 1943 graduate of West Catholic High School, where he played football and was selected as a member of the All-Catholic team in the Philadelphia Catholic League. Mr. Brown proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII, and fought at the Battle of the Bulge under the command of Gen. George S. Patton. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for his service. He was employed by Boeing for forty years, where he worked as a flight test crew chief, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown, and was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Maureen D. Tapp and husband, Neil, of Suplee, Helene P. Russell and husband, Kenneth, of Stuart, Fla., Patrick B. and his former wife, Jill, of Downingtown, and Sean J. and wife, Theresa, of Downingtown. He is also survived by his brother, William J. and wife, Mary, of West Chester; and by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Road, Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Interment will be in Ss.
