Violet D. Sciarretta Obituary
Violet D. Sciarretta, former owner of the Crescent Inn Violet D. Sciarretta, former owner of the Crescent Inn, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at her home in Honey Brook, where she resided with her daughter, Pam, who was her caretaker. She had been in failing health for many years. She was the wife of Anthony G. Sciarretta, who preceded her in death in 1972. Born in Parkesburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Piccolo Morelli. Violet was a 1942 graduate of the former Parkesburg High School. Violet and Anthony were co-owners of the Crescent Inn, a Coatesville landmark, from 1961 to 1987. At the restaurant, she was well-known for her cooking skills introducing many new Italian dishes to the area. Cheesesteaks and veal parmigiana were favorites with her friends, family and loyal customers. Besides running the restaurant together, Violet and Anthony enjoyed dancing and trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed classic movies and music, cooking and entertaining friends and family. Among her favorites were Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billie Holiday, John Wayne and James Cagney. Violet is survived by her daughter, Pam; sister-in-law Karen Morelli; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Morelli. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. Family and friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will be St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
