Walter F. Griffith Jr., formerly of Coatesville Walter F. Griffith, Jr., 83, of Myerstown, formerly of Coatesville, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Armstrong) Griffith, to whom he was married 43 years on April 20, 2012. Born in Bethlehem, Pa. on Oct. 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter F., Sr. and Alma (Koch) Griffith. A 1947 graduate of Allentown High School, he started his career at Kraft Foods and later went into food brokerage with the former James A. Weaver Co. in Lancaster, culminating in 40 years in the food industry. In his retirement, he worked for the Krapf and Brightbill bus companies transporting local sports teams. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown, Brandywine Goddard Masonic Lodge No. 383 in Coatesville, the Food Brokers Association, and enjoyed model railroading and socializing with people in the community. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Eleanor, wife of Christopher Simpson of Millersville; sons, Mark, husband of Barbara Griffith of Union, Mo., Michael, husband of Carol Griffith of Gilbert, Ariz., Matthew, husband of Bridget Griffith of Glenmoore, and William, husband of Stephanie Griffith of Downingtown; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara, wife of Frank McGimpsey of Allentown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Griffith in 1959, and an infant sister, Gloria. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from Friedens Lutheran Church, 301 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing at 1:30 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
