Warren Tapley Scott Obituary
Warren Tapley Scott of Chester Springs Warren Tapley Scott, 59, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from complications of orthopedic surgery. Warren was born in Philadelphia, the husband of Ellen Kittredge Scott and the son of Elizabeth and John Scott of Chester Springs. He was a graduate of Kimberton Farms School and the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from Penn, Warren, along with a partner, established the Philadelphia Story, Inc., which for over thirty years operated a variety of restaurants in the greater Philadelphia area. Warren was a consummate hands-on business leader and involved himself in all aspects of his businesses. He could be found installing plumbing fixtures and negotiating complex deal structures all in the same afternoon. He built and renovated a number of houses and historic buildings and was committed to conservation and land preservation. He loved the Maine woods; the landscape of West Vincent Township, where he lived; as well as the town of Marshallton where he was deeply involved with the community and was the proprietor of the Marshalton Inn and the Four Dogs Tavern. He was a member of the Bradford Monthly Meeting of Friends in Marshallton. Warren had a finely tuned internal compass that always focused him on doing the right thing. He had high standards of how to conduct his personal and business life. This combined with his quick wit and easy, warm manner provided inspiration to countless employees and business associates throughout his career. Warren is survived by his wife Ellen; daughters Sarah and Emily; son Wren; his parents; his brother, Jake of Kimberton; his sister, Molly of Homer, Alaska; and a multitude of nieces and nephews that will miss their Uncle Warren enormously. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, at the Bradford Quaker Meeting in Marshallton, (1368 West Strasburg Road, West Chester). In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Bradford Monthly Meeting, c/o Carol Hanson, Treasurer, 588 Winfield Way, Chester Springs, PA 19425, or the Marshallton Conservation Trust, Inc., P.O. Box 415, West Chester, PA 19381 Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, Inc. www.chadwickmckinney.com.
