Alta M. Detweiler Obituary
Alta M. Detweiler of Phoenixville Alta M. (Beachy) Detweiler, 94, wife of the late Solomon B. Detweiler, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at her residence in Phoenixville, surrounded by her family. Born in McMinnville, Ore. on April 28, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Menno and Fannie (Christner) Beachy. Alta was a seamstress and was a very active member of the Frazer Mennonite Church in Frazer. She loved reading and embroidery. Surviving are her loving family including son, Howard D. Detweiler, husband of Judy, of Paoli, Ind., daughter, Fannie L. wife of Richard Thomas of Swink, Colo., son, Paul G. Detweiler of Phoenixville, daughter, Anna Louise Detweiler of Phoenixville, and son, LeRoy D. Detweiler husband of the late Shirley of Elverson; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Hochstetler and Marie Howe; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rufus Beachy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Frazer Mennonite Church, 57 Maple Linden Lane, Frazer, PA 19355. Officiating will be Pastor Brenda Martin Hurst. Visitation with the family will held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Mennonite Central Committee U.S., 21 S. 12th Street, PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501-9989.
