James Leroy Brown of Peach Bottom James Leroy Brown, 86, entered into rest at his home on Saturday, March 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Nottingham, Jim was the eldest son of the late, Harold Leroy and Polly (Duncan) Brown. Jim graduated from the Oxford Area School District in 1946 and later enlisted in the Delaware National Guard, where he served for twenty-one months. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was deployed to fight in the Korean Conflict. Jim was honorably discharged on Feb. 2, 1952. After his service in the military, he became a self-employed mushroom farmer and commercial compost mixer. He later became manager of the Interstate Mushroom Co., Inc. in West Grove. From 1983-1985, Jim was elected as the West Nottingham Twp. Supervisor and Roadmaster. Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator retiring in 1993. He was an active member of Oxford Lodge #353 F.&A.M. for over 50 years, along with memberships with American Legion Post #194, Oxford Lions Club and Wrightsdale Baptist Church since 1996. Surviving is his loving wife, Lillie (Wiles) Brown and daughters, Vicki L., wife of Marv Kuzo of Williamsport, and Jacqueline L., wife of Chris Barone of Northumberland; two step-children, Kathryn, wife of Greg Light of Elizabethtown, and Ray, husband of Tracy of Texas. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Diveley, along with brothers, Robert and Paul. Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th, at Wrightsdale Baptist Church, 310 Little Britain Road, Peach Bottom, with Pastor Steve Sheldon officiating. There will be a viewing at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Little Britain Presbyterian Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Red Rose Veteran's Honor Guard.
