Lawrence Taylor "Mac" McConnell Obituary
Lawrence 'Mac' Taylor McConnell of Nottingham Lawrence "Mac" Taylor McConnell, 71, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. He was the husband of Catherine Pennypacker McConnell. Born in Oxford, he was the son of the late Lawrence R. and Maude Taylor McConnell. Mac was retired from General Motors Boxwood Plant, Wilmington, Del. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving eight years during the Vietnam War. Mac would help orphaned and injured children when he served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Mason-Dixon Post 194, Rising Sun, Md. and Lighthouse Community Church, Brockway, Pa. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture for his family. In his younger life he was a professional photographer. He is survived by his wife; two step-daughters, Paula Smith of Wilmington, Del. and Michelle Smith of Coatesville; three brothers, Robert McConnell of Nottingham, Howard McConnell of Middletown, Pa. and Roger McConnell of Wernersville, Pa.; one step-brother, Burton Mowery of DuBois, Pa.; two step-sisters, Gloria Jean Pletcher of Rockwood, Pa. and Linda Dalby of Reedsville, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22nd, at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, where friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Interment with full military honors will be in Faggs Manor Cemetery, Cochranville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 669 E.
