Mabel Hannsmann Williams Obituary
Mabel Hannsmann Williams, formerly of Berwyn Mabel Hannsmann Williams (nee Davis), passed away at the age of 100 on June 11, 2014 at St. Martha Manor, Downingtown. Mabel is survived by her son, Gene R. Williams (Carol) of Paoli; granddaughters, Candee S. Williams of Big Spring, Texas and Marsha L. Williams of Paoli; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Joshua Williams of Big Spring, Texas; and many nieces and nephews on both the Williams and Davis side of the family. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard R. (Hap) Williams; son, Howard D. Williams; grandson, Brad D. Williams; brothers, William and Carl Davis; and sister, Marion D. Ainslie. Mabel was born in Philadelphia Feb. 13, 1914 and moved to Berwyn when she was a young girl. She attended Easttown Primary School and graduated from Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in 1932. She met Hap Williams while both were working for Bell Telephone in West Chester. They were married 59 years before his passing in 1998. Mabel was a Past Worthy Matron and life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and spent many years volunteering for the Valley Forge Military Hospital and Paoli Memorial Hospital. She was a team leader for the RSVP organization which helped non-profit companies with mailings and publications. Mabel was a member of the Berwyn United Methodist Church since 1939, serving as a Friday volunteer along with her husband. Mabel sang in the church choir and was involved with the Joy Circle of the Women's Society and with the Methodist Childrens' Home of Philadelphia. She was also a member of the Main Line Needlework Guild. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21st, at the Berwyn United Methodist Church, 140 Waterloo Avenue, Berwyn, PA 19312. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Berwyn United Methodist Church. www.maugergivnish.com
