Michal Cherrin Obituary
Michal Cherrin of West Chester Michal Cherrin, 66, passed away on July 27, 2014. Born in Casablanca, Morocco on April 30, 1948, Michal emigrated to Israel in 1958 and grew up in Givat Hamore in Afula. After receiving both her bachelors degree in education and masters fegree in psychology from Haifa University, Michal served as the Director of Education at Kfar Tikvah from 1970 to 1973 when she emigrated to the United States. Michal worked as a therapist for autistic children at the Deveraux Foundation from 1973 through 1980. She joined the staff of Albert Einstein Academy in Wilmington in 1990 and served as the Head of School from 2008 until he retirement in 2013. Preceded in death by her parents, Moshe and Hannah Bendavid, and her brother, Shmaya, Michal is survived by her husband, Tom Tolin; sons, Daniel and Gilaad (Stephanie); and siblings, Ester, Monique, David, Avi, Sima, Shimon and Colette. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29th, at Congregation Beth Shalom, 1801 Baynard Boulevard, Wilmington, DE 19802. Shiva will be observed Tuesday through Thursday evening at 8 p.m., Saturday evening at 9 p.m. and Sunday evening at 8 p.m., at the late residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Michal Cherrin Jewish Education Fund, c/o Jewish Fund for the Future, 101 Garden of Eden Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
