Charles F. Leonzis, 85, formerly of Toughkenamon, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the home in Wilmington, Del., that he shared with his daughter Diane for the past two years.|
His beloved wife of 24 years, Sylvia Calvarese Leonzis, preceded him in death in 1975.
Born in Lenni, Pa., he was the son of the late Mary Valentino Leonzis and Luigi (Louie) Leonzis.
He was a self-employed retired mushroom grower and for many years an active member and selfless leader of the VFW Post 5467. He wore many hats, among them commander and quartermaster.
He proudly served his country as an administrative yeoman in the Navy during World War II on the USS Markab AD21 destroyer ship in the North Pacific Ocean - Japan, China, Philippines.
Charles enjoyed playing the stock market, reading, dancing, all music, cooking, and keeping up with current events related to our country.
He was very committed to his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Diane Leonzis of Wilmington, Del., Lorrie Leonzis Bove of Landenberg, Pa., and Lisa Leonzis of Newark, Del.; one granddaughter, Alicia Bove; and one great-granddaughter, Savanna Grace Ryzewski of Glen Mills.

His funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Kennett Square.
