Gail Marie Haly, affectingly known as Nanny, 77, of Chester Springs, formerly of Malvern, died at her home on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, surrounded by her family and caregiver.|
She was the beloved wife of Walter M. (Spud) Haly.
Nanny was born on September 5, 1935 in Lancaster to the late Henry and Marguerite Firestone Hartman.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame-Moylan High School.
Nanny loved gardening, arts and crafts, spending time with her grandchildren, and boating in Maryland and Key Largo, Fla.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are Jeffrey L. Haly (Cynthia) of Downingtown, Richard M. Haly (Joanne) of Malvern, Cheryl L. Anderson (Andy) of Downingtown, Daniel P. Haly (Christina) of West Chester, Bud Haly (Joann) of Malvern and Robert H. Haly (Melissa) of Malvern; sisters, Sonia Leighton of Coatesville, Penny McDevitt of Glenmoore and Catherine Laudato of Rehoboth, Del.; 13 grandchildren; and also her caregivers, Bonnie and Gregory Shears.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nanny's life celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, and also from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, at Mauger-Givnish Funeral Home, 24 Monument Ave., Malvern.
Nanny's Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Patrick's Church, 104 Channing Ave., Malvern.
Interment will be private.
