Bruce V. Johnstone Obituary
Bruce V. Johnstone of Christiana, Pa. Bruce V. Johnstone, 84, of Christiana, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Wilma McGuigan Johnstone who passed away on Sept. 7, 2011. He was born in Short Hills, N.J., son of the late Robert McC and Alice Stansbury Johnstone. He was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise. Principle owner of the former Johnstone Engineering & Machine Company of Parkesburg. Bruce was a life member of the Parkesburg Fire Company and the Christiana Ambulance Association. He was a volunteer E.M.T. for Christiana Ambulance Association, earning his certification in 1974 through the Parkesburg Ambulance. He was Fire Chief for Parkesburg Fire Company in 1967, 1968 and 1970. He attended Lafayette College. He enjoyed woodworking and bird watching. Surviving are four children, Susan A., wife of Richard Miller of Worton, Md., Robert B., husband of Teresa Graybill Johnstone of Christiana, Elizabeth A., wife of Harry Myrick of Highspire, Pa. and Carol F., wife of Ron Herr of Parkesburg; stepson, William E. Jr., husband of Tawnya Shelton Haag of Christiana; eight grandchildren, two step-grandsons, four great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Anne Ramsey of Delaware. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Johnstone. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7th, at 11 a.m. from Calvary Monument Bible Church, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, Pa., with Pastor Bryan Sanders officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing time on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
