David C. Funk

1942 - 2016

David C. Funk, 73, passed away at Frey Village on February 4, 2016 after a long battle with illness. He was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on July 16, 1942, the son of Franklin H. Funk and Emma Jane Detwiler. He was a proud graduate of Penn State University and held a Masters of Public Administration from American University. He was employed for thirty-five years by the Federal Government, spending the last twenty-three years with the Small Business Administration in Philadelphia and living in Berwyn, PA. A person who thoroughly enjoyed people, he had fond memories of his relationships with teachers and substitute teachers as a part-time substitute caller for the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District for eight years, he was President of the Berwyn-Paoli Little League for five years, President of the Upper Main Line Bowling League for nearly ten years, served as treasurer of The Tredyffrin/Easttown Marching Band Parents organization (aka TEMPO) for four years, and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Upon full retirement, Dave moved to Harrisburg, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Wynkoop Funk; daughter, Deborah C. Funk of Palmdale, California; two sons, David W. Funk of Houston, Texas and Douglas C. Funk of Harrisburg; and his five grandchildren, Jason, Philip, Victoria, Jeanette and Stephanie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Visitation time is 10:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
