Alice Mae Jungbluth of Peoria, AZ, died peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2014. She was 91 years old. She was born in La Crosse, WI on November 6, 1922 to the late Roy and Teresa Collins. She was raised in La Crosse and graduated from Central High School in 1940. She attended vocational school and worked as a secretary prior to joining the United States Navy
in 1945. On August 21, 1948, she married her true love and partner of 64 years, John A. Jungbluth. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2013. Together they had four children.
John's career with Federated Mutual Insurance Companies led them to many parts of the Midwest. Alice made sure that every home was filled with love and joy. Alice had fond memories of their many cruises and trips to Europe, especially Germany which was home to her heritage. She loved to write various essays, poems, and journal entries and took great pride in writing, What A Life!!!, her autobiography. Above all she enjoyed being with her family.
Alice is survived by four children: David (Lisa) Jungbluth of Tucson, AZ, Christine (Fred) Knuth of Prairie Village, KS, Nancy (Brian) Jacenko of Glendale, AZ, Susan (Jeff) of Peoria, AZ. Her brother, Jim Collins of Las Vegas, NV, brother-in-law Bill (Mary) Jungbluth, nine grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews also survive her. Her husband, parents and three brothers preceded her in death.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with burial to follow at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, PO Box 13600, Phoenix, AZ 85002-3600 or the Plaza Del Rio Foundation, 13373 Plaza Del Rio Blvd., Peoria, AZ 85381.
