Dr. Julius Amsiejus, born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, died peacefully at 96 in his home in Sun City West on January 23rd. He was the son of immigrants from Lithuanaia, and with Thelma, his now deceased and beloved wife for 53 years, lived a meaningful life of serving and caring for others.
In 1943, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. He was a lifelong learner, getting several other degrees (AA i electronics from Glendale Community College and MA in Public Health from University of California Berkeley). He served in the Air Force for 30 years, retiring in 1976 as a Lt. Colonel. He was a base Veterinarian at Luke, as well as a government meat inspector. Julius worked in Civil Service and trained state personnel in animal disease control.
He will be remembered by cousin Joseph Paulekas, family members Juliana Wells, Char Cardey, Barbara and Kerri Abdinoor, Jim Paulekas, and David Robyn Paulekas and by neighbors Carol and George.
