Ted H. Torrence, 83, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away January 17, 2014. Ted was born on September 30, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to Henry and Altje Torrence. He grew up in Baltimore, Ohio and graduated from Liberty Union High School in 1949.
After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving 23 years, including combat tours in Korean and Vietnam wars. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the highest enlisted rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt).
On October 26, 1956 Ted exchanged wedding vows with June Elizabeth Loomis. Together they were blessed with two sons and three grandchildren. Ted retired and moved to Arizona were he found joy in many hobbies which included; Flying Wheels Motorcycle Club, Ham Radio Club, and sailing. Ted leaves with all those who knew him many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his loving wife June, two wonderful sons and their families; Chris (wife Jenny, son Michael) and John (wife Angelina, sons Kyle, Eric), sisters; Salle Speaks (Lyle) and Nancy Crist (DeVaughn), and brother; Colin Weaver (Beverly), along with many friends. Ted will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
An Arizona memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 5:30 P.M. located at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona. A second memorial is being scheduled for early summer in Baltimore, Ohio. Ted's final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
