Mrs. Barbara Jeanne Littlefield, 68, of Sun City, Arizona, went to her heavenly home on Monday, August 11, 2014 while enjoying a scenic train ride in Durango Colorado. She was the wife of Loren Littlefield for forty-six wonderful years. Born August 25th, 1945 in Fort Lewis, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Hitt Grim and Elizabeth Lang Boice "Betty" Grim.
Barbara received her B.S. in Mathematics, followed by her M.S. and Ph.D in Measurement and Statistics in Education from the University of Maryland. She was a school teacher before serving as a computer scientist for the Federal Government for 20 years. She retired in 2002 and moved to Sun City, Arizona, where she was an active member of Willowbrook United Methodist Church, sang in church choirs, served as an officer for the Daughters of the American Revolution (Agua Fria Chapter), and was actively involved with the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Barbara was an avid genealogist, completing five books on her and her husband's family heritage. She enjoyed traveling and sightseeing with family and friends, playing piano for Sunday School classes, and playing countless board games, and visiting the beach.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Loren Arthur Littlefield; two sisters, Beverly Jane Heater and husband John "Jack" Heater, and Elizabeth Anne Zimmerman and husband David Zimmerman; one brother, Robert Garrett "Bob" Grim; two daughters, Tina Ruth Thorstenson and husband Don Thorstenson, and Linda Jean Landay and husband Jeff Landay; eight grandchildren, Michael Andrew "Drew" Thorstenson, Bryanna Elizabeth Thorstenson, Christopher Eric Thorstenson, Gabriel Thomas Thorstenson, Adelina Rachel Thorstenson, Oneida Abigail Thorstenson, Matthew Isaac Landay, Andrea Elizabeth Landay; and one great-grandchild, Layla Elaine Prokay.
