Carmel Joseph Mariani, 90, of Sun City, left Tuesday morning July 2, for heaven. Born in Detroit, Michigan, to Italian immigrates Pasquale and Maria Mariani on January 23, 1923, and grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
He worked as machine shop super intendant until he retired. He had a great sense of humor, and a love for music (playing the drums in a band). Married to Carol for 56 years. They lived a wonderful life in Arizona, where he golfed daily and he also enjoyed bowling competitively, Carmel was city champ in Waukesha.
Carmel and Carol had two children: Rebecca, and Gregory (Stacey) Mariani; two sons from a previous marriage: Patrick (Beth), and Michael (Shelly) Mariani; he was also a great father to: Ruth (Ron) Hernandez, Butch (Sherry), Kevin, Tom (Mary Beth) Hintz.
He is survived by 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Frances Bucci, Dolly Pfeffer and Ann (Art) Tennessen. He is preceded in death by his sister, Laura Wilson and grandchildren, Eric Shuda and Jolina Hintz.
He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. A service will be held in Sun City, Arizona at a later date.
