Caroline Dietl Gibbons, 81, a 21 year resident of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 from pancreatic cancer.

There will be no services or visitation as Carol donated her body to science. A Memorial Mass will be said at a later date at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dubuque.
Carol was born on April 9, 1932, in Dubuque. She had worked as a legal secretary for Eugene Wright Sr. and later Mark Cody. She also worked as registrar at Aquinas Institute of Theology and as a personal secretary for Robert Woodward Jr. at the Telegraph Herald.
After her retirement to Sun City in 1992, Carol read and recorded books for the blind at the RFB&D Sun City Studio. She was also a teacher's aide in the elementary school system in Surprise, AZ.
Carol was an avid golfer, bridge player and cross stitched beautiful cards and wall hangings.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Jim Gibbons, of Sun City; two children, Kathy (Al) Battin, of Marion, IA, and Dave (Linda) Gibbons, Maple Grove, MN; four grandchildren, Sarah (Sonny) Lopez, of Tucson, AZ, Ellen Battin, of Marion, Renae (Dan) Connoy, of Blaine MN, and Rachel Gibbons, of Rochester, MN; and two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Hannah Lopez, both of Tucson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and two brothers.
