Mary Ellen (Mel) Clayton passed away peacefully on July 30, 2012. Born in Cleveland on December 30, 1924, she grew up in Cleveland and discovered golf in her early teens and loved it all of her life. After graduating from Connecticut College for Women, she married Robert Jeavons. They had three sons, William, Christopher, and Thomas.

She married John Clayton in 1968, and became step-mother to John's three children, Christopher & Richard Clayton, and Margaret (Clayton) Blanton. Also included were thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In 1974 the Claytons moved to Memphis, TN where she and a friend opened C. Robin Ltd., a successful toy and miniature dollhouse store, and played golf.
After moving to Sun City West in 1994, she volunteered at the West Valley Art Museum, was active in AAUW, and played golf with the Women's league at Pebblebrook Golf Course.
She was active socially and of course, played golf. She scored a hole in one with her trusty 7-wood in 2001.
She was active socially, and will be deeply missed by her large and loving family and her many golf and social friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Camino Del Sol Chapel in Sun City West.
