Robert Burke Kenney, Sr. was born in Wakefield, MA the 3rd son to Paul J. and Mary E. Kenney. He is predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, Edward P. and James W.; and granddaughter, Sydney Nichol Aichs. Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carole F. Kenney; sons, Robert B. Kenney, Jr. (Del), Chula Vista, CA and Brian W. Kenney (Meredith), Tacoma, WA; daughter, Michele L. Aichs (Clint), Charlottesville, VA; grandsons, Kyle Aichs, Winchester, VA, Ariel Kenney, Chula Vista, CA, and Dylan Kenney, Tacoma, WA; and sisters-in-law, Ann E. Kenney, Wakefield, MA and Marie M. Kenney, Lowell, MA. Bob started his travel career with Pan Am Airlines at Logan International Airport in Boston, MA. The lure of travel planning moved him to work with Bill Beddows Travel in Boston, MA. He then moved to Laramie, WY and ran WYO Travel. There he met the love of his life, Carole. They were married and moved to New Milford, CT for one year then came to Phoenix, AZ where Bob ran Sun City Travel and later opened his own agency, Bob Kenney Worldwide Travel in 1986. He loved planning trips for his clientele and he and Carole escorted many wonderful trips. Bob served on the Royal Viking Advisory Board and was one of the visionary co-founders of Crown Travel Group and enjoyed SKAL with many fellow travel industry friends. Bob was a member of Rotary International and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was President of the Rotary Club of Sun City Del Sol in 1987-88. He and Carole hosted 2 foreign exchange students. He had 25 years of perfect attendance in Rotary. Bob was a community minded person as he served on the Board of Directors of Benevilla, formerly known as Interfaith Services, Sierra Winds Life Care Community, and Founders Roundtable Sun Health. All who knew Bob knew him as a caring, generous, and kind hearted man. Bob retired at the end of 1987 and he and Carole enjoyed the RV Lifestyle from 1998-2003 traveling during the summer from coast to coast visiting family and friends. Hobbies included Travel, watching all types of sports, especially Diamond Backs baseball and college football, and reading. Bob faced the illness of the last 6 months of his life with grace and peace and passed away at Royal Oaks Healthcare Center, in Hospice Care, on March 13, 2013 with Carole by his side and family with him the last few days. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob's memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Willowbrook United Methodist Church, 19390 N. 99th Ave., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Salvation Army or Willowbrook United Methodist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Golden Door Chapel, Youngtown, AZ.
