Thomas Fredrick Puls, 80, Jefferson, formerly from Thiensville and Hayward, WI, passed away at Sunset Ridge Memory Care in Jefferson, WI on Monday, June 27, 2016.
Tom was born on November 22, 1935 in Fond Du Lac, WI to Harold and Vira (Raycraft) Puls. He graduated from Fond Du Lac High School, where he was a standout athlete. Tom graduated from UW-Lacrosse with a Bachelor's Degree in education and received his Master's Degree from UW-Superior in Mathematics. On November 22, 1958 he married Audrey "Diane" Bergemann. They made their home in Barron, WI where he taught mathematics and coached several sports. They then moved to Thiensville where he taught and coached for many years at Nicolet High School until his retirement in 1992. He took several of his teams to state in basketball and golf. Tom was inducted into the Wisconsin State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He won the 1960 Wisconsin State Golf Tournament and the 1996 Senior Wisconsin State Open.
He and Diane retired to Sun City Arizona where he proceeded to win 11 City Tournaments. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. He is survived by his children: Christine (Gary) Wilke, Fort Atkinson, WI; Mark (Debbie) Puls, Hollywood, FL, grandchildren: Craig and Carly Wilke and Lucas Puls. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; son, Scott and brothers, George and Don Puls.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 with burial in Barron, Wisconsin.
