Wallace David Anderson, 83, Sun City, AZ, affectionately known to everyone as "Wally", passed away peacefully on February 8, 2013. Wally was born in Chicago, IL, on December 10, 1929, the first son of Roy and Florence Anderson.
The Guest Book is expired.
He met his wife, Patricia Johnson while attending Fenger High School in Roseland, IL. Pat and Wally were married February 11, 1950, with today being the occasion of their 63rd wedding anniversary. Together they raised four sons and a grandson in Chicago.
Wally was an Optician and business owner for 40 years until retiring in 1992, and moving to Arizona in 1999. His family and friends will always remember Wally as a kind and contented soul who never once met a stranger in his life. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, spending time at their lake house in Michigan fishing, and filling others with joy. Above all he will always be cherished as a wonderful husband, father, and a loyal friend. He was a man who always put others' comfort before his own, and treasured every chance he had to help others, or simply engage in lively conversation with them as he was gifted with the turn of a phrase.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald, and son Michael. He is survived by his sons, Steven (Patricia), James (Diane), Edward (Shannon); his grandsons, Jeffery (Annie) and Matthew; granddaughter Phoebe; great-grandson Fletcher; and great-granddaughters Morley and Ivy.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 12th at Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Wally may be made to the Valley View Community Food Bank, 10615 W. Peoria, Sun City, AZ 85351.
