Peggy Topping Kelly, 88, died on September 7, 2021. Peggy received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Maryland where she was a member of the honorary societies of Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta, and recipient of the Orion award. She was the choral director at High Point High School in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Her interests in music led her to the Virginia Choral Society where she served on the Board of Directors for many years and was President of that board for two years. Peggy was also active in the Peninsula Youth Orchestra over a span of twenty years. She volunteered as Music Teacher at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Day School over a ten-year period.

Peggy is survived by her four sons: Peter H. Kelly of Newport News, Joel T. Kelly of Newport News, Christopher L. Kelly of Bristow, and Timothy M. Kelly of Newport News; and four grandchildren: Caitlin E. Kelly, Paul W. Simpson., Katherine E. Kelly and Ashley M. Kelly.

A graveside service will be conducted at Peninsula Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by The Rev. Marc Vance. In lieu of flowers please donate memorials to your favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

I served with Peggy for many years on the board of the Virginia Choral Society, and loved the evening she was honored by the VCS for her years of "ladling gallons of punch, and serving mountains of cookies" - I miss her smile and delicious sense of humor.
