I was a member of his squad when he was a E-4 Specialist and became a E-4 Corporal. He was my very first squad leader. That was in September of 1976. He was stationed C company 2 BN 28 INF, Lee Barracks, Mainz Germany. He inspired me a 17 year old to get a better military and civilian education. He is a great man to me and others that served.

Davinia, my heart is with you and the kids.. I know we have lost touch over the years and I am sorry for that. We have so many wonderful memories of Donnie and you in Korea. Haley still remembers when you and Donnie took her to the water park and Donnie playing dress up with her. Donnie was such a caring and giving person. His smile was so infectious. You and your family are in our prayers, Love Debbie

To Donnie's family and, friends I send my most heartfelt condolences. I read his obituary and it only begins to tell of the Great man that I knew as CPL. and later SGT. HUNT! As my squadleader in 2/28th Inf. in Mainz Germany in 1977 Donnie was a teacher and an inspiration to myself and, many other young soldiers who he came in contact with. He was loved by his entire squad and unit .Donnie was a soldiers soldier. I only found out about his passing a couple of days ago when iI decided to google him because i wondered what had become of him.Although I am Saddened to here of his passing,I am glad there are so many to car the torch!

On behalf of everyone who has ever worn the chevrons of a sergeant major, we are deeply saddened and want to pass along our sincere condolences to the entire family. CSM Donnie Hunt shared the same passion for soldiering as his legendary peers who have come before him. He also shared the same desire to excel, becoming a command sergeant major. Throughout his life, he put service first, both to the nation and his community. Command Sergeant Major Hunt was a terrific soldier and perhaps more importantly a better person and a great mentor. He will be truly missed by the entire NCO Corps community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Be thou at Peace.

My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and serving with Donnie and Davina in Korea circa 1999. Unfortunately, we did not stay in touch but the memories we shared stayed in our hearts.
Davina, may the road ahead be full of wonderment for you, the children and the rest of the family. GOD BLESS.
