TOANO - Leman T. Boyd went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2013. He was born on May 10, 1931, the son of the late Tylman and Diane Boyd, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He retired from the Newport News Ship Yard & Dry Dock. He also spent many wonderful years as a pastor and he loved to teach and preach the Word of God. He was also preceded in death by a son, Leman Boyd, Jr. He leaves to treasure his precious memories his wife, Elizabeth Boyd; his sons, Clifton (Angia), Ashley (Zelda) and Alton; his daughter, Gail; his brother, Eugene Boyd; his sister, Helena Marble; his twelve grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in St. Luke's Baptist Church, West Point, Virginia, with the Rev. Arthur Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Brother Boyd may be viewed from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, in Whiting's Funeral Home. The Boyd home was always a special place to visit when our Walsingham Academy 7th graders went to visit and clean his yard. Our students had a special place for him in their hearts because they found out that lending a listening ear to a friend rather than labor was such an important act of mercy.
