Bernice Butler Goodrich

SMITHFIELD - Bernice Butler Goodrich, 89, peacefully departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight, she was the daughter of the late Chillian S. and Mary Doggett Butler. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, George Newton Goodrich, sister, Eloise B. Cofield and brother, John T. Butler. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Goodrich Crocker and her husband Randy of Milton, Florida; a grandson, Randolph Crocker of St. Petersburg, Florida; a nephew, John T. Butler, Jr. and wife, Lynn; a niece, Mary Eva Jones and husband, Brian both of Windsor, VA; and a cousin, Caroline Hurt and husband, Bob of Smithfield, VA. Bernice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the ladies bible class. She was a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution and The United Daughters of The Confederacy. A memorial service celebrating Bernice's life will be held 11am, Friday, May 9, in Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Savinsky officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church, 201 Cedar Street, Smithfield, VA 23430. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.
