YORKTOWN - Lt. Col. Daniel Drejza, born on July 24, 1954, to Leo and Margot Drejza in Utica, NY, passed away on June 11, 2013, after a heroic nine month battle with cancer. He was an extraordinary man who lived for God and lived life to the fullest with all his heart. He was a gentle soul, filled with unending compassion, spoke evil of no one and strived daily to live with sterling integrity and a relentless devotion to family, friends, fellow man and beloved country. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force
in 1972 immediately after high school, attended the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Dan flew the F-111 for nine years and retired as a decorated officer from the Air Force on April 1, 2007. Dan is survived by his wife Barbara and two children, Michail and Jennifer Parker (Steve) of Warren, MI, sister Dolores Esmonde (Peter) of Grand Lake, CO, nephew Jeremiah McCann of Mtn. View, CA, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at KirkWood Presbyterian Church at 1209 Hampton Highway, Tabb, VA, on Saturday, June 15th at 2 pm with reception following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or the Wounded Warriors Project. He will be laid to rest, with graveside service, at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
