Darlene Louise Waddle

MIAMI, FL - Darlene Louise Waddle passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23rd after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to David and Mary Ann Waddle on July 27, 1952 in Sitka, Alaska, and grew up on Army bases in Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Eritrea, and Virginia. She graduated from Peninsula Catholic High School and completed a Bachelor of Arts at Old Dominion University in 1982. Dar loved children, loved painting, music (gospel and jazz), and was a devout Christian. While she taught art and art history in Hampton and Newport News school system periodically, she focused her efforts during her child rearing years to raise her daughter Rosalyn. She was dearly loved by friends and family members. Darlene is survived by brothers David, Michael and Daniel. Her daughter Rosalyn resides in Hampton. She is survived by dearly loved nieces and nephews Reed (32), Alison (26), Alexis (30), Natalie (25), Jake (22), Tolsun (34), Andrea (31) and Michael (28). Dar's friends are invited to join in a celebration of her life on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 6:00 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 South Armistead Avenue, Hampton. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service from 5-6 pm. She will be laid to rest at Hampton Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 31.
