Douglas Fairbanks Canady Sr.

WILLIAMSBURG - Douglas Fairbanks"Duck" Canady, Sr. answered the Lord's call to come home for eternal rest , on Saturday, March 2, 2013, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 1, 1931, the son of the late Eli and Lucille Canady. Douglas was a member of the Gospel Spreading Church of God, and he retired from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Douglas leaves to cherish and celebrate his life's legacy his devoted wife, Ivy Taylor Canady , his sons, Douglas F. "Chuck" Canady, Jr. (Paulette) and Marlon "Bucky" Canady; his daughters, Karen Pamilton and Candice Canady Myers (David); his siblings, Doris Canady, Alice Canady, Vivian Wallace (Roland), Eli Canady (Rosalind), and William Moore (Shirley); his eleven grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013, in the Gospel Spreading Church of God, 1915 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, Virginia, with Pastor James Johnson and Elder Vernell Hardy officiating . Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, immediately after the repast. Family and friends will assemble at 4356 Ironbound Road by 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Mr. Canady may be viewed in the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (Tonight).
