WILLIAMSBURG - George A. Burrell, 65, quietly passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012.
He was a native of York County and a lifelong resident of Williamsburg. He attended the former James Weldon Johnson School. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Burrell.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frances Blizzard Burrell; his grandaunt, Mrs. Catherine Wallace; his uncle, Edward Blizzard; his children, Lynette Hopson (Vernon), Troy Bartlett, and Hope Bartlett; his brother, James Burrell (Juanita); his half-sister, Pattie Ann Burrell; his eight grandchildren, his two great-grandsons, his two nephews; a special friend, Margo Bell; and a host of cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in St. John Baptist Church (Penniman Road) and he will be laid to rest immediately following in the St. John Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 1232 Penniman Road by 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Burrell may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home on Friday.
