Georgia Ingram Spohn

WILLIAMSBURG - Georgia Ingram Spohn, 88, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 in Williamsburg. She was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma to the late Victor and Eva Ingram. After enduring and surviving the 1930's depression and dust bowl days of Oklahoma on a farm, she served as a secretary with her husband, William W. Spohn at the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee during the development of atomic energy during World War II. She was later employed with the Brandywine School District and the DuPont Company, both in Wilmington, Deleware. She is survived by a son, Michael Spohn and his wife Rebecca of Newport News and a daughter, Marsha Donovan of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren Chris Scheder and his wife, Kassi of St. Cloud, FL, Hannah Spohn and Chelsea Spohn, both of San Diego, CA; and four great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News.
