HAMPTON - Harold Ulysses Blackwell passed into eternal rest Dec. 5, 2012, at his home in Hampton, Va. Harold was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Bridgeport Hospital and predeceased by his parents Fleda and Harry Blackwell.
He was raised in Yellow Mill Village in Bridgeport, Conn. After attending and graduating from Warren Harding High School, he joined the U.S. Army. Harold proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, Harold worked briefly in the G.E. Industrial factory in Bridgeport, Conn., before retiring from the United States Post Office after 32 years. He and his wife Patricia moved to Hampton, Va., to enjoy their retirement years.
Harold leaves behind his wife, Patricia Lawrence Blackwell, daughter, sons, granddaughters, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, and many more extended family members. We will all miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Nickelson Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton VA 23669, interment will take place at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery Suffolk. Viewing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
