Jerald J. Jones

iconWILLIAMSBURG - Jerald J. "Jerry" Jones, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013. He was a native of Red House, Virginia. A Korean War veteran, Jerry served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne. He worked as a General Foreman at Old Dominion Stevedoring Corporation for 35 years. Jerry was the son of the late Dillard, Sr. and Reba Ward Matherly. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marlene High Jones; brothers, John, Dillard, Jr., and Vernell; and sisters, Annie and Janice. He is survived by his sons, Jerald Gregory, and Jeffery Wayne and his wife, Carol; grandson, Jerald Jeffery; granddaughter, Megan Irene; brothers, Wayne and Garland; and sisters, Florence West, Arybel Hatley and Odell Ottofaro. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 26, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
