Joseph Alphonse Richard

HAMPTON - Joseph Alphonse "PaPa" Richard, 82, is "on the road" again after passing away on October 3. Born in Rumford, Maine, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria, parents Antoine and Louise, siblings Lorraine, Laurie and Edward. Joe joined the Army at the age of 17 and retired at Fort Monroe after 20 years of military service. He then began a career with the Va. State Agricultural Department retiring after over 20 years service. He then continued to work part-time with the State until he was 80 years old. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joe enjoyed getting in his car and "going". He especially loved visiting Maine and spending time joking with his brothers and friends. Joe fondly loved his State Agricultural family. He is now happily reunited with his wife Gloria. Life goes on but will never be the same. Joe is survived by his children Yvonne Naber, husband Randy, Alfred Richard wife JoAnn and Levi Richard; grandsons Joey Drummond, John Drummond Jr and Alex Richard; siblings Leo, Alyre, Ray, Yvon, Marie, Frank and Joe; last many beloved friends. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-7:30 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 7, 2013 at R.
