POQUOSON - Raymond Edmon Lemaire, 78, passed on at Golden Living Center, Bayside of Poquoson on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; and son, Jon Snyder.
He served 20 years, as a TSgt., in the Air Force and served with distinction in Vietnam, where he was awarded two purple heart
s. As a civilian, he worked for 20 years on the flight line at the Naval Weapons Station in Norfolk.
He is survived by two loving families. His first includes, son, Michael Lemaire (Meg); and three daughters, Jackie, Cathy, and Stephanie. Siblings include a brother, Kenneth Lemaire (Annie); and sisters, KarinJean Boone and Dorothy Lemaire. His second family includes, sons, Terry Snyder (Linda) and Leslie Snyder; and daughter, Shirwin Moore (Herman). He enjoyed his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was known throughout the Tidewater area for his work with the Hampton Roads Bowling Association, Little League umpire activities and was also an active member of the Ranch Hands, a National Vietnam Veterans' Group.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Emmaus Baptist Church, 814 Yorktown Road, Poquoson, Va. A funeral service will follow beginning at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest with the 'love of his life' at Arlington National Cemetery, at a date yet to be determined.
