Robert M. Furiness

UNION, NJ - Roger M. Furiness, 72, of Union, NJ passed away on March 23, 2014 at Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, NJ. Roger was a lifelong resident of Union. He was a member of the Union Elks, NRA, and founder and head of Meadow Sportsmen Club. He was a champion trap and skeet shooter and expert gunsmith. Roger will be remembered for his passion of duck hunting with his beloved Brittany Spaniels, love of gardening and the great outdoors. Cherished son of the late Michael and Evelyn Furiness. Beloved friend and life partner of 30 years to Lorraine Martin. Loving brother of Dennis Furiness and his wife Dorothy, and Michael Furiness. Father of David Baxter and his wife Melissa. Grandfather of Kailin and Aiden Baxter, and uncle of Sharon , Jessica, and the late Jordan Furiness. He is also survived by his loyal hunting dogs Tami and Baylee. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 26th from 6-9 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union. A service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, March 27th at 11 AM, with interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roger's name to Ducks Unlimited, One Waterfowl Way Memphis, TN 38120.
