Rose A. Armistead

WILLIAMSBURG - On October 5, 2013, our beloved Rose Lee Armistead answered the Master's call. Her life began on February 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Pearl Mann Robinson and Andrew Robinson, in Surry County, Virginia. As a young woman, she gave her life to Christ. Around 1937, she joined hands in Holy Matrimony with Robert T. Armistead, Sr., in James City County, Virginia. Unto this union, they were blessed with five children. Mrs. Armistead was a longtime member of First Baptist Church-Scotland Street, where she was a member of the Choir, the Usher Board and many other auxiliaries. She served her church faithfully until her health began to fail. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Armistead, Sr., her daughters, Rose M. Donovan and Yvonne Geraldine, her sons, Robert T., Jr. (Charlotte) and Clarence E. Armistead (Madine Myers), seven brothers, Charles ,Curtis Ellison, John Marshall, Leroy (Lillie), Otis (Thelma) and Prentice, her son-in-law, John Parks. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Eloise Parks, of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Carol Armistead, of Fulton, Maryland; her granddaughters; her grandsons; her step-granddaughter; her great-granddaughters; her great-grandsons; her step-great-grandsons; her sister, Evangelist Arlietha M. Reid (Charles), of Hampton, Virginia; her brothers, Albert Robinson, of Newport News, Virginia and Rev. James Robinson, of Hampton, Virginia; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Robinson and Margie Robinson; former members of the family whom were very dear to her, Ida Robinson, Vivian Robinson, Judy Robinson and Lanoralee Armistead; her beloved home health care providers, Denise Marrow, Evangelist Joanne Robinson, Pastor Linda Jones and Evangelist Mary Vaughan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, in First Baptist Church-Scotland Street, Williamsburg, Virginia, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Reginald F. Davis. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 105 Douglas Drive by 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Mrs. Armistead may be viewed and the family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
