HAMPTON - Samuel E. Walker, 68, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at home surrounded by love ones.
Samuel received his education from Hampton City Schools and was a graduate of Phenix High School, class of 1963. After being drafted into the U.S. Army, Samuel served his country nearly three years during the Vietnam War
. He transitioned out of the U.S. Army and began work at the Newport News Shipbuilding and DryDock Company, as a member of the Painter's Department. Samuel worked a total of 40 years at Newport News Shipbuilding and DryDock Company and was ultimately promoted to supervisor. Samuel was a member of Cary's Chapel Church in York County, Va. He also attended church services at Bethel AME.
Samuel was proceeded in death by his brother, Ernest Walker; his father, Luther Jones; and his son-in-law, Lloyd Robinson.
Samuel leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife, Dorlissa Walker; mother, Lucy Campbell; daughter, LaTera Robinson; son, Samuel E. Walker Jr.; daughter, Keeyaira Murray; son, Keenan Murray; son, Kenaz Murray; sisters, Christine Gregory and Christine Robinson; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Chapel of Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home Inc., 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton, VA 23669.
